Salomons Estate stands as one of Kent's most distinguished Victorian country houses, with a rich heritage spanning nearly two centuries. Built in 1852 for Sir David Salomons, the first Jewish Lord Mayor of London, this magnificent Manor House has been a witness to history, innovation, and countless celebrations.
Today, whilst we honour our past, we look to the future - welcoming couples, families, and organisations to create their own lasting memories within these historic walls.

1851
Estate Founded
Sir David Salomons, who would become the first Jewish Lord Mayor of London in 1855, began developing the Broomhill estate, creating a place of leisure, culture and retreat.
1873
A New Generation
David Lionel Salomons inherited the estate and began transforming it into a centre of scientific innovation, adding the observatory tower and installing one of England's first private electricity systems.
1895
World's First Motor Show
David Lionel organised the world's first motor show in Tunbridge Wells whilst serving as mayor, cementing the family's reputation for pioneering innovation.
1914
The Theatre & Organ
The magnificent Welte organ was installed in the Victorian Theatre, which had been built for scientific lectures but evolved into a showcase of theatrical technology.
1938
Memorial Donation
The estate was donated to Kent County Council as a memorial, ensuring this remarkable Victorian heritage would be preserved for future generations.
